The most common causes of password or authentication failures are - You did not include the complete domain in your news login username. For instance your client is using username tom. The news servers have to authenticate multiple domains and there could be a tom@pacbell.net and a tom@sbcglobal.net. In order to tell the difference you must use your complete, primary email address to login. To fix this please see the setup page, and select your service and client.
- The case of your password is not correct, or the password is not correct. Password, password, and PASSWORD are three different passwords. The case must match. To verify your password you will need to call the customer help number for your service.
- The case of the domain is incorrect. If you're a Pacbell subscriber your domain would be pacbell.net not Pacbell.net.
NOTE: We just recently discovered a problem which we are workingto resolve. While the "Change Password" page indicates that you may choosea password up to 16 characters in length, this will not work withthe newsgroups. The password must be 15 characters or less in length.
